Parents come next week & tuition is due! We’re at the final stages of enrollment for next year and are wrapping it up! If you have not enrolled yet, there is an added processing fee of $10 after April 10th. The recital is coming up! A separate email with specific practice instructions will be sent out. Please take the time to rehearse assigned songs at home and help your child prepare for their performance. Keep in mind, we are not a performing group, but we do like to showcase what we have learned! Homework: pp. 28–31 Students cut out and glue on the Chords in Pieces solfege, as well as color the triangles. Be sure to listen to the CD and practice on the bells! Bell practice is essential to prepare students for Year 2 on the keyboards. The Ants Go Marching Marching to this fun song helps us learn to keep a steady beat. We also reviewed the cadence pattern SOL LA TI DO. Repetition is key to training the ear! Baby Butterfly This song is hard to get out of your head once you start singing it. This activity is designed to help the students identify bug rhythms and rhythmic patterns in the songs they are singing. In class we went on a bug hunt! We have been using solfege for a while now. If your child needs more exposure to help them remember the hand signs, read on...
Turn on this fun video of the "Ants Go Marching" and have your kids act out the catchy nursery rhyme! An added bonus ... it's great exercise! Be sure they let me know that you referred them so you can receive your referral credit! $10 tuition credit for Sound Beginnings students and $25 tuition credit for Let's Play Music and Presto students once fall classes begin and they are enrolled. Our year end recital is coming up soon! I will be preparing the recital and sending home practice instructions soon. Keep your eye out for these notes. Homework pp. 24–27: Students cut out the bugs and glue them onto p. 27 under their musical notation. On Top of Spaghetti Today we talked about the word harmony as we sang and played “On Top of Spaghetti”. The students know harmony is two different sounds that sound good together. Learning to sing harmony helps them to sing in tune and stay on their part. It develops the inner ear and lays a solid foundation for becoming a complete musician. El Gallo
This is another wonderful song to teach harmony. You can create harmony by singing this in a round or by singing the rhythmic ostinato. The rhythmic ostinato would be the chords Red, Red, Yellow, Red repeated throughout the song. Try singing Red, Red, Yellow, Red while your child sings the song El Gallo and you are creating harmony with a rhythmic ostinato. For Fun: Those little frogs LOVE to go "a-h0ppin'!!" Want to make your own hoppin' frog? Watch this video. Parents come next week! Thank you to those who have registered and enrolled. You have secured your spot in the 2nd year class. In 2nd year, parents only come five times a semester and we are on the keyboards. P.S. If you know of anyone interested in Sound Beginnings (ages 0–4), 1st year Let’s Play Music (ages 5–6), or Presto (ages 7–12) classes for the Fall, please send them my contact information or direct them to the Infusing Music Studios website. Be sure they let me know that you referred them so you can receive your referral credit! $10 tuition credit for Sound Beginnings students and $25 tuition credit for Let's Play Music and Presto students once fall classes begin and they are enrolled. Homework: pp. 22–23 Students draw notes on the staff and identify melodic patterns. This is the beginning step for music dictation (the ability to write music from hearing it). We are preparing students to write their own composition in the 3rd year of Let's Play Music! Dinosaur Song Yesiree, your kiddo is reading music! They played the “Dinosaur Song” on the bells while reading the written notation. They did it by looking at the patterns of steps and skips. You should be so proud of them! Music can change lives! What a gift you are giving your children! Check out how in this video.
