Meet the Teacher
Krystle Stevens
Music has always been a big part of my life. My parents passed on their love for music to my five siblings and me when they created our family band. My first performance was at age 2 ½ singing “Little Bunny Foo Foo” for a variety show with my oldest sister. They say I stole the show, but what toddler on stage wouldn’t!? We would practice during the school year and then travel across the country every summer and perform.
At about age five, I started to learn the piano and as I grew older, I added a little bit of percussion, then the french horn, mellophone, and trumpet. I dabbled with the viola and the guitar, but that was short lived as wind instruments simply came more naturally to me. I went to community college in northeastern Arizona on a jazz band scholarship and had a great time writing my own piano parts for the songs we would play. I married a musician who was one of my best friends in our high school marching band and while our primary careers have not been in the field of music, we have continued to play and share our love for this art with our three children. Still young at heart, I am so excited to bring the absolute fun side of music to preschool aged children in our Flagstaff community through the Sound Beginnings program. |
