Piano and Flute Group Music Classes Inspired by my mother’s beautiful nighttime music, I began taking piano lessons at age five. Four years later I took up the flute.
I have directed, accompanied, and participated in choirs, bands, orchestras, worship teams, and handbell choirs. Over the years I have played for recitals, weddings, funerals, art shows, recordings, accompanied vocalists, given solo recitals, adjudicated competitions, and worked as the administrator for a conservatory of arts program. I work with students to develop an individualized curriculum that incorporates their desires and goals, as well as including a solid foundation of the fundamentals. I also offer Sound Beginnings group classes for preschoolers and Let's Play Music group classes for students ages 4–6. |

John Muther
Piano, Guitar, Woodwinds, Brass, Percussion John has made music his entire life, starting piano in 2nd grade, flute in 4th, guitar and trumpet in 8th and singing the whole time. He still loves picking up a new instrument and getting the excitement of starting as a beginner again. He took music theory classes in college for fun while getting an English degree, and returned a few years later to get a full music degree. During that time he also began teaching private lessons. He also performs as a singer-songwriter, sings in choirs, and plays in wind ensembles whenever he has the opportunity.
In 2015, Pine Forest Charter School in Flagstaff gave him the opportunity to work in the classroom with kids from 1st through 8th Grades. He loves teaching both the beginning fundamental skills as well as doing the more subtle work involved with advanced players. He loves getting people to sing and play together, and he loves band most of all. The real joy for John comes not from how difficult a piece is, but rather how musical and beautiful the player can make every note. John lives by the words of one of his favorite directors: Making music is fun. Making music well is more fun. Making music well together is the most fun of all. |

Georgia Sears
Piano I started taking piano lessons when I was six years old. My mom would frequently play piano in our home. One day I told her that I would like to learn how to do that! And so the adventure began…
I completed my Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, AZ. I earned my Master of Music in Piano Performance and Pedagogy from the University of Houston. I have been teaching piano for over 30 years and have been everything from “the piano teacher down the street” to a college professor. My students have been just as diverse; they've won local and state competitions, majored in music, played for their churches, schools, communities, and simply for themselves. My top priority as a teacher is to deliver quality musical information in a way that passes along the joy of learning and playing music to my students. I tailor lessons to motivate students, help them find their own passions, and make life lesson connections. I like to use a lot of improvisation and composition in addition to learning the music of other composers to help students become well rounded musicians who can rise to any occasion of their choosing. |

Ryan Williams
Piano Ryan began playing piano at age six and hasn’t stopped. He began studying Jazz music and improvisation with San Francisco Bay Area pianist Is Perkoff in the seventh grade. Ryan searched out overplaying opportunity throughout high school, including playing solo piano at Nordstroms. He started a quartet and played weddings and parties through college. Ryan graduated from Westmont College with a degree in music education. While at Westmont, he studied with notable jazz pianist Theo Saunders before moving to the east coast.
Ryan taught private lessons in New York City for 10 years while simultaneously performing with singer songwriters, improv groups, rock and roll bands and world music groups. He has performed across the U.S, Canada, France, and Germany, to name a few countries. Ryan thinks it’s never too early or late to start playing piano and learning about music. Lessons incorporate improvisation, note reading, and music theory. When he moved to Flagstaff, Ryan slowly transitioned to working as a photographer, but his desire to help kids and adults discover a love for music and incorporate that love for music into their life has brought him back to teaching. |
